Manley Wine Estate is a boutique wine farm and private cellar with bed and breakfast accommodation. The farm is located in the beautiful countryside of the Tulbagh Valley in the Cape Winelands of South Africa.
In 2020 Manley Wine Estate and Private Cellar was acquired by Markus Ehehalt, a German engineer with great enthusiasm for wine and love for the country life.. Markus received formal wine education in Germany from his grandfather and so he always wanted to dive deeper into the sophisticated world of wine production. His vision is to re-establish Manley Wine Estate into a prestigious South African boutique winery and guest farm, a small haven in the countryside of Tulbagh.
Today Manley Private Cellar is a registered, multi-award-winning wine estate, mainly producing single varietal premium red wines, exceptional rosé, and a limited selection of well-crafted white wines.
Markus and his team are wonderful and ambitious! You can taste their love and passion in each bottle and see it in every detail on the farm!

Winelands of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek
A short tour through the famous wine regions around Cape Town.
Stay for two or three days to enjoy the beauty of the landscape, the mountains, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek themselves and of course the wine from South Africa's most important and oldest wine farms.
Stellenbosch
South Africa’s second-oldest town is synonymous with wine, and certainly has a wealth of wineries well worth a visit. However, there’s so much more to the City of Oaks. Rich in history and culture, food and art, and surrounded by majestic mountains and nature reserves, it offers must-try experiences whatever your interests or age.
Waterford Wine Estate
The winery is situated in the picturesque Blaauwklippen Valley and offers a relaxing setting, vineyard experiences, a Wine Drive Safari and Porcupine Trail Walk. It’s the best winery to visit for a pairing of wine and chocolate! Waterford is also home to two of the area’s most popular restaurants, as well as a a wide selection of craft beers, ciders and other beverages.



Franschhoek
Characterised by extensive vineyards, giant old oak trees, Cape Dutch architecture and French flair, Franschhoek dates back to 1688, when the Huguenots arrived in the region. Today you will find 45 wineries in the valley, ranging from regal and rustic to big-name and boutique, one as beautiful as the next, all of which produce astonishingly good wines.
Franschhoek Wine Tram
Riding an old-timey wine tram through the countryside is a whole new experience that adds a level of charm that really can’t be beat. There are four routes and for each a different colour code (Take the orange or purple line!). Each route as 8 - 11 stops where you can choose to hop off or skip. You can squeeze a lot in if you skip tours and focus on max. five wineries.
Spier Wine Farm
Spier is a top-notch wine farm located in the heart of Stellenbosch. This estate has been producing award-winning wines since 1692 and was one of the very first farms to be established in Stellenbosch. Spier boasts a wide selection of red and white wines, as well as sparkling wines and their signature Chenin Blanc.
Boschendal Estate
The current gold standard when it comes to wine-farm destinations, Boschendal ticks all the boxes, and exquisitely so! Stylish accommodation, a welcoming werf where night markets, puppet shows and other activities are hosted, a beautifully merchandised farm shop, and a kids’ club that would give some of the swankiest resorts in Mauritius a run for their money.
Solms Delta Wine Estate
Solms Delta is a small wine estate that seems to get overlooked, but it should be on your top list, cause the winery not only have delicious wine but also culture, history and a breathtaking surroundings.
The Swartland and Tulbagh Region
A short tour through the wine and fruit regions in the beautiful mountain basin near Cape Town.
Stay for two or three days to enjoy the breathtaking mountain region, the wine and fruit farms and the wide variety of flora and fauna.
Twee jonge Gezellen Wine & MCC Cellar
The 300-year-old Twee Jonge Gezellen Estate in Tulbagh is the historic home of Krone, a collection of Vintage-Only, terroir-driven Cap Classique.
Twee Jonge Gezellen has the honour of being home to the first underground cellar in Africa. Here, vintage after vintage of Krone is stacked in its coves as well as being hand-turned in traditional pupitres, while the Cap Classique matures on the lees. In 2017 the historic estate was reimagined with the interior design being inspired by its rich heritage and original architecture. The 300-year-old estate has been restored to reflect its heritage and contemporary renaissance and is open to the public for tastings as well as cellar and gallery tours.

AA Badenhorst Family Wine Estate
Located on an east facing slope of the Paardeberg, Kalmoesfontein looks out over stunning Swartland landscapes where sunrises reward early birds. The farm operates as a wine / Caperitif / mezcal / brandy / sherry and soon rum cellar. Besides grapes there grows capers, kai apples, various vegetable gardens with all the herbs, pomegranates, lemons and moerbeie. Pepper trees , quinces, lemons, curry leaves and rooibos all can be found about.
Bain's Kloof Pass and Wellington
Bain’s Kloof Pass, created in the 1850s, is one of South Africa’s finest scenic passes and is a national monument. It is 26,8 km in length from the bridge over the Breede River to the outskirts of Wellington.
The picturesque town of Wellington is a scenic 45-minute drive from Cape Town and 15-minutes’ from neighbouring Paar. Wellington’s agricultural economy is centered on its award-winning wines, table grapes, deciduous fruit and fine brandy, and it is also home to South Africa’s sole whisky producer. The Region is renowned for beautiful Cape Dutch homesteads, picturesque environ-ment, gardens and wineries. Hiking trails, bird and wildlife viewing, mountain biking, abseiling, guided wine-walks and horse-trails through rich farmland and flowering fynbos offer the opportunity to see and experience Mother Nature at her finest.
Riebeek-Kasteel
Riebeek Kasteel is one of the oldest towns in South Africa, situated 80 km north-east of Cape Town in The Riebeek Valley together with its sister town Riebeek West. Riebeek Kasteel is known for some of its popular attractions, which include the Kloovenburg Wine and Olive Estate, the Moi Art Gallery, the Het Vlock Casteel, the Meerhof Wines and the Garagista Beer Co.
Greyton Nature Reserve
A short tour through the third largest Nature Reserve in the Cape.
Stay for two or three days to enjoy beautiful natural surroundings, stunning mountains and flowing rivers to head out for a walk or hike on the trails in and around the nature reserve or take a splash in secret swimming spots.
Greyton
Whatever you’re looking for in the ideal getaway, Greyton is all about slowing down, unwinding and getting back to the simple things in life.
Quaint shops and restaurants are around every corner of the village. Discover something different with Greyton’s local eateries, coffee shops, boutique stores, and of course the famous Saturday morning market that showcases the very best local offerings. The cape vernacular architecture of Greyton has remained largely intact, lending the village much of it’s historical charm. The original leiwater system of street furrows for irrigation is a surviving feature and is still in use by residents today.
Genadendal
Discover Genadendal, the site of the oldest Moravian mission village in Africa, founded in 1738, just outside of Greyton. A visit to Die Werf and to see the beautifully preserved exhibits at the Genadendal Mission Museum is to take a journey back in time.

For a sleepy town, Greyton hosts events throughout the year, from pop-up dinners to beer festivals and live music. Future events worth noting in your diary include
"Classics for All", "Detour Music Festival", "Greyton Rose Fair" and "Greyton Art Walk"
Boesmanskloof Hiking Trail
The Boesmanskloof trail is one of the most popular hiking routes in the country, and it’s easy to see why. The starting point is right here in Greyton, a short hop from Cape Town. The trail winds through the deep and untouched Boesmanskloof gorge, past Oak Falls, before you hike up and out to Die Galg, where overnight accommodation sits perched right on the edge of the gorge.
Mountain Biking Trails
Boneshaker, First Bench and Bakenskop are some of the better-known routes in town, and all offer something different. If it’s technical black-graded trails you’re after, Bakenskop Black’s got you covered. If you want an easy pedal through some gentle winding trails, take a tour through the Sandpit, where even the little ones on their bikes will manage. And for the gravel enthusiasts, countless miles of country roads will keep you cruising.
Cape of Good Hope
A short tour to the famous Cape Point Nature Reserve and other well-known spots around.
Go on a day-trip to enjoy the natural, wild beauty of the Nature Reserve, afterwards visit the cute penguins at Boulders Beach and
end the day in Kalk Bay.
Chapman's Peak & Noordhoek Farm Village
The Cape of Good Hope is located 70 km away from Cape Town. By car, it takes about an hour and a half to drive here from the city. Go by way of Chapman’s Peak for even more dramatic scenery and visit the Farm Village in Noordhoek for a delicious breakfast or purchase healthy local treats to start the trip .

Boulder's Beach
Boulders Beach is a sheltered beach made up of inlets between granite boulders, from which the name originated. It is located in Simon's Town and it is home to a large colony of African penguins. It's so special, cause only at Boulder's Beach and Betty's Bay you can get so close to these little cute birds.
Cape of Good Hope
The Cape of Good Hope is a promontory off of the southern tip of South Africa. It is mistakenly thought of as the southernmost point of Africa and the spot where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. But the true southernmost point of Africa is at Cape Agulhas, located on the Garden Route of South Africa over 200 km away.
Despite everything Cape of Good Hope is a beautiful spot, with different walking trails, little beaches, unpredictable weather, baboons that will boldly try to raid your car and adorable penguins playing in the ocean. There are also 1,100 species of indigenous plants that grow here and nowhere else in the world. Furthermore, this is a great place for whale watching during the months of June to November. For the best views over the Cape of Good Hope climb up to the lighthouse or take the Flying Dutchman Funicular that will get you to the top in three minutes for a small fee.



Kalk Bay & Harbour House
It was named one of the "12 coolest Neighbourhoods around the world" by Forbes Magazine in July 2018 and after one visit to the quirky seaside village of Kalk Bay, it’s easy to understand why. Part-sleepy fishing village and part-buzzy high street, Kalk Bay’s eclectic mix of historic buildings, cobbled streets, bohemian bric-a-brac shops, vintage bookstores, art and antique galleries, ocean and mountain views, quaint cafés and restaurants, colourful fishing vessels and creative locals is what makes it so charming.
End your day at the Harbour House and enjoy a glass of wine and a delicious Mediterranean-style meal as the waves crash against the giant glass windows of this shore-hugging favourite. Towering over the bustling fishing pier and boasting spectacular 360-degree views of the mountain, sea and the distinct Hangklip mountain on the horizon, it’s the perfect spot for a perfect end to the day.
